Rand ran and ran and ran. All he could think about at the time was his mother, how he hoped she wasn't dead. How he hoped that somehow this was just a sick prank. He wanted to mom to be safe. But something kept telling him that he was going to be disappointed. He was almost home. The smell of smoke was really getting stronger.
